Memories of 2011

My first thought is BLIMEY. It is DECEMBER ALREADY??!

This year has shot by so seriously fast!

It has been a crazy busy mixed up year with extremes of emotions.

There has been some very very sad times

(grandad we all miss you so much)

some very busy and stressful times

(masters degree final exams)

and,

without doubt the happiest day of my life

(my wedding)

As for 2012?

So finally I have gotten around to creating my own website!

Well....

......that sounds a bit like it was my own doing!

In fact it was my fabulous hubby

(yes I am still excited that I can call him my HUSBAND!).

It is a work in progress, but I am pleased with the results so far.

For now I will link through to my Etsy shop. I am working hard promoting my Etsy corner so I don't really want to have to juggle different pieces in different shops. I will see how it goes over the next few months.

it's getting colder....

Autumn is in full swing,

The leaves are beginning to turn such beautiful colours.

Mixed between days with cool crisp sunshine....(like)

....are those horrible damp cold days (dislike!)

Cold damp days are the worst weather.

It doesn't get me down, however it does mean I start some serious hibernating!

Weekends become filled with cozy days in with the fire on,

a good book, a great film, or to be honest even some rubbish tv!

Comfort food - hearty dinners, puddings with custard,

hot chocolate with marshmallow and cream,

and then later in the evening baileys and brandy.

In preparation for hibernation I bought some slippers!

(my old ones were worn through)

This morning I ventured out to a gem show.

Not that great, but I did pick up a couple of nice stones.

Gah...

It was one of those days today.

I tried to make myself some super simple pearl studs and didn't manage it!

The pearl in one of the studs wasn't setting so well so decided to give the pusher a bit of a hammer to help it.... and snapped the post off the earring.

Grr!

Typically the pearl is set well enough that it will be a pain to get out....

My silver order didn't arrive on saturday so no new pieces to show you

(it was DHL and not my supplier though!)

but, I have lots of designs sketched out waiting to be made.

Blimey! My metalsmithing has somewhat suffered of late, being oh so very busy with lots of things and visiting family and friends. Some of what my time has been spent on will be revealed later this week (or maybe next week!). I have also been very busy with wedding and honeymoon plans (I can not wait!). Lots to organise and arrange, and seriously, how long does it take to print, cut, write and address invitations?!

We spent this weekend away visiting family.... It makes me realise how lucky I am to a) be marrying my soul mate and b) to be gaining another wonderful and loving family :-) The time was mainly spent sitting in the sunshine eating, drinking and laughing.....
